Ohio spring has two speeds: Speed one is “look, a daffodil,” and speed two is “why is it hailing.” Either way, the cure is the same. Get outside. Even for an hour. Especially for an hour.
Here’s your Weekend Guide for Friday through Sunday, plus something we’re genuinely excited about:
Tentopia is live at Camp HiYo
We’ve been on site at Camp HiYo in Homerville, Ohio, building what we’ve been calling Tentopia. It’s our proof-of-concept in real life: the kind of setup that makes people walk up and say, “Wait… this is camping?”
If you’ve been curious what Medina Adventure Company looks like when adventure, comfort, and atmosphere all meet in one place, this is your chance to see it in person.
Come out, take a look, grab photos, ask questions, and picture what this could look like wherever you want to camp.
Friday, April 17
Quilt Vendor Days at Lake Metroparks Farmpark
A two-day shopping event tied to the Quilts 2026 show, with vendors and demonstrations. Great “rainy-day” option that still feels like a wholesome outing.
Why it makes the weekend list: not everything has to be a hike. Sometimes spring is a cozy detour.
Saturday, April 18
Cleveland Metroparks: Spring Wildflowers and nature programs
Cleveland Metroparks’ calendar is stacked on Saturday with spring wildflower hikes and a bunch of “drop in and learn something” options, including Spring Wildflowers programs and other nature activities throughout the day.
If you want a classic spring win: pick a wildflower walk, wear shoes you don’t emotionally care about, and let the woods do their thing.
Summit Metro Parks: Earth Fest Open House
A good family-friendly “Earth Day energy” event with games, a craft, music, and simple ways to celebrate the planet.
Summit Metro Parks: Nature Saunter
A slower-paced naturalist-led stroll focused on spring wildflowers. Perfect if you want outside time without turning it into a fitness event.
Geauga Park District: Ansel’s Cave Hike
A guided hike with history and geology baked in, held at The West Woods.
Geauga Park District: April Evening Adventure
A night program at Eldon Russell Park that’s ideal if you like dusk walks and spring sounds.
Sunday, April 19
Geauga Park District: Annual Spring Bird Walk Series
Early-morning bird walk at Frohring Meadows. If you want the most “spring is here” feeling per minute, this is it.
Cleveland Metroparks: Sunday options
Cleveland Metroparks usually keeps Sundays loaded with nature walks, family programs, and seasonal topics on their events calendar. If you want a simple plan, pick one morning thing and one afternoon thing and call it a weekend well spent.
The Tentopia Invitation
If your weekend needs one stop that feels like stepping into the future of camping, come see Tentopia at Camp HiYo in Homerville.
This is exactly what we mean when we say we’re trying to make it easier for people to connect with creation and with each other.
You’ll see it. You’ll get it. And you’ll probably start planning your own version before you leave.
What to bring this weekend in Ohio spring
Bring boots or shoes you can rinse. Bring layers. Bring a thermos. Bring a small towel for your car seats, your dog, your kids, or your dignity.
Ohio will do Ohio. You just go anyway.
