This is one of those Northeast Ohio weekends that may require a family meeting.

We have county-fair demolition, a festival celebrating twins, football legends in Canton, fireworks in Cuyahoga Falls and Richfield, live music, illuminated lanterns, spiders with superpowers, a creek hike, a night hike, a star party and enough sweet corn to make

August officially feel like August.

You cannot do everything.

But you can choose something worth remembering.

Here is our comprehensive guide to what is happening around Northeast Ohio this weekend.

Friday, August 7

Make the Medina County Fair Your Friday Base Camp

Medina County Fairgrounds 720 W. Smith Road, Medina

Friday is Sensory Friendly Day at the fair. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., sensory-friendly activities will be offered in the Pavilion, and the midway will operate without its usual loud music and bright flashing lights. The fair opens at 8:00 a.m., general admission is $8 for ages six and older, and children five and younger enter free.

Start the day at the Open Draft Horse and Draft Pony Hitch Show at 9:00 a.m. in the grandstand. It is free with fair admission and gives families a chance to see the strength, precision and tradition behind these beautiful teams.

Come See Medina Adventure Company

From 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., find us inside the Wilderness Adventures area at the west end of the Community Center.

We will be there talking about camping, glamping, campers, kayaks, astronomy and the simple idea behind everything we do: helping people slow down, reconnect and live stories worth telling.

Wilderness Adventures includes hands-on activities for the whole family and is open from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Friday night brings the Demolition Derby at 7:00 p.m. Reserved grandstand seats are $14, pit passes are $25, and those tickets are separate from fair admission. If deliberate automotive destruction is your idea of culture, Medina has you covered.

Prefer music? Bayou Blue performs Creedence Clearwater Revival and Linda Ronstadt favorites in the Pavilion from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. 

Falls Downtown Friday and Fireworks

Downtown Plaza, Cuyahoga Falls 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Free

Downtown Cuyahoga Falls is hosting live entertainment, food trucks, local craft beer and family activities, followed by the city’s rescheduled America 250 fireworks display at 10:00 p.m.

Brent Kirby performs at 7:00 p.m., followed by Marc Lee Shannon and My Other

Brothers featuring Michael Webber at 8:00 p.m. The separate Front Street Live stages will also feature Wave Magnetik and Babies in Black from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. 

This is one of the best all-ages Friday-night options in the region.

Show up hungry.

Bring folding chairs.

Do not volunteer Dad to find the car after the fireworks.

Twilight at the Zoo

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo 7:00 p.m. to midnight Ages 21 and older

Twilight at the Zoo turns the Zoo into a massive after-hours music event with local bands performing throughout the grounds. General admission includes small bites, beer, wine and soda.

General admission is listed at $130, while the VIP party begins at 6:00 p.m. This is the grown-up date-night choice for anyone who has ever wanted to enjoy live music at the Zoo without hearing someone ask to visit the gift shop six times.

Vintage Ohio Wine Festival

Lake Metroparks Farmpark 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland Friday and Saturday, noon to 9:00 p.m.

Vintage Ohio brings Ohio wineries, food, live music and vendors together at Farmpark for two full afternoons and evenings.

Tickets are required, and pets are not permitted inside the festival. Check ticket availability before making the drive.

Best for: couples, friend groups and anyone who enjoys tasting notes more sophisticated than “red” and “the other red.”

Nocturnal Creatures Night Hike

Cascade Valley Metro Park, Oxbow Area 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.

Summit Metro Parks is leading a 1.2-mile evening hike to explore what happens in the woods after the daytime animals settle down.

Expect to listen and look for nocturnal wildlife while learning how Ohio’s nighttime creatures navigate the forest. Registration may be required through Summit Metro Parks.

This is a strong choice for families with older kids, couples or anyone who has ever heard something move beside a dark trail and confidently announced, “Probably a squirrel.”

Sugardale Fan Fest

Pro Football Hall of Fame Campus, Canton Noon to 10:00 p.m. Free

Canton’s Enshrinement Weekend includes a free public tailgate with live music, football activities, food and entertainment at the Stadium Park parking lot.

Admission is free, and free parking with shuttle service is available at the Stark County Fairgrounds. The Fan Fest continues Saturday and Sunday.

North Ridgeville Corn Festival

South Central Park, North Ridgeville Friday through Sunday Free admission

The 51st North Ridgeville Corn Festival celebrates one of Ohio’s finest achievements: finding increasingly ambitious ways to serve corn.

The weekend includes food, entertainment, rides, contests, vendors and community activities. The festival runs all three days, with free admission, entertainment and parking.

Richfield Community Days

Richfield Woods Park

Friday begins with a hometown parade assembling behind Village Hall at 6:00 p.m. and stepping off at 6:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available at Richfield Woods Park, followed by live music from 7:15 to 10:00 p.m. 

This is the small-town-Friday-night option.

Parade.

Hot dog.

Live music.

Home before everyone argues about where you parked.

Saturday, August 8

Twins Days Festival

Glen Chamberlin Park, Twinsburg

The 51st Twins Days Festival is the world’s largest annual gathering of twins and multiples, and Saturday is its biggest day.

The famous Double Take Parade steps off from Twinsburg Township Square at 9:00 a.m. Festival activities include children’s programming, cornhole, live entertainment, twin contests and the kind of crowd where saying, “I thought I just saw you,” is finally a valid statement.

This year’s theme is “Totally Two-bular,” celebrating the colors, fashion and pop culture of the 1980s.

Saturday entertainment includes a ventriloquist, Jungle Terry and several bands on two stages.

Goodyear Half Marathon and 10K

Goodyear Proving Grounds and World Headquarters, AkronRace begins at 6:30 a.m.

The Goodyear Half Marathon and 10K begins on the company’s Proving Grounds test track and finishes near the historic World Headquarters.

The event is the second race in the Akron Marathon Race Series and is known for giving runners access to landmarks they would not normally experience on foot.

Not racing?

Cheering for strangers before breakfast is still a surprisingly good way to begin the day.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton Noon

The Class of 2026 will be formally enshrined Saturday at noon during the centerpiece event of Canton’s football weekend. Tickets are required.

The free Sugardale Fan Fest runs from noon to 10:00 p.m., with Phil Vassar performing from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Collin Raye from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Family Day at the Medina County Fair

Saturday is officially Family Day at the Medina County Fair. Midway rides begin at 11:30 a.m., and unlimited-ride wristbands are listed at $28.

This is also your final day to visit Medina Adventure Company inside Wilderness Adventures.

Medina Adventure Company Exhibit

West end of the Community Center 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Stop in, meet us and tell us what kind of adventure your family has been meaning to take.

Saturday evening features the OSTPA Truck and Tractor Pull at 7:00 p.m. Reserved grandstand tickets are $14 and pit passes are $25, separate from fair admission.

Family Morning Creek Hike

Egbert Picnic Area, Bedford Reservation 10:30 a.m. to noon

Cleveland Metroparks naturalists will lead families through the woods to a nearby creek to investigate what lives in and around the water.

Water shoes and a change of clothes are a smart idea, especially if your child has ever promised, “I’m not going to get wet.”

They are going to get wet.

Plan accordingly.

Spider Superpowers

Keystone Trailhead, West Creek Reservation 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Join a Cleveland Metroparks naturalist for a hike focused on Ohio spiders and the unusual traits that help them hunt, hide, build and survive.

Best for curious kids.

Less ideal for the family member who checks the shower curtain twice.

MGK Day Community Festival

North Coast Yard, Cleveland

Saturday’s ticketed MGK Day festival combines live music, local food, vendors, interactive experiences and community organizations.

General-admission entry begins at 3:00 p.m., while tailgate-pass holders can enter at noon. MGK and Wiz Khalifa are scheduled to headline, with main-stage programming beginning at 6:00 p.m. and fireworks planned for dusk.

Super Star Party

Penitentiary Glen Reservation, Kirtland 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.

Lake Metroparks is hosting an evening devoted to astronomy and the night sky at Penitentiary Glen.

Registration is required, and outdoor activities are weather-dependent.

This may be our most on-brand event of the weekend.

Asian Lantern Festival

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday are walk-through nights for the Asian Lantern Festival, featuring large illuminated displays, live performances and culturally inspired food.

Advance nonmember tickets are listed at $27, with discounted four-packs available. Children under two enter free.

Independence Home Days

Elmwood Park, Independence Noon to 11:00 p.m.

Home Days offers rides, games, contests, food, live entertainment and dancing. A parade-related road closure is scheduled from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Sunday, August 9

Final Day of the Medina County Fair

Sunday is First Responders Day, with free admission for Medina County first responders who show proper identification.

The fair will also turn off loud music and bright midway lights from noon to 2:00 p.m. for visitors with sensory needs and disabilities.

Sunday’s grandstand schedule includes:

10:00 a.m. — Farm Tractor Pull Free grandstand admission.

6:00 p.m. — Medina Motor Mania Reserved grandstand tickets are $10, separate from fair admission.

6:00 p.m. — Gospel Disciples in SongFree performance in the Pavilion.

10:00 p.m. — Fair-closing fireworksFree grandstand event and the final celebration of the 2026 fair.

Please note that Wilderness Adventures and our Medina Adventure Company exhibit end Saturday evening and are not open Sunday.

Twins Days Continues

Sunday begins with the Twins Days 5K Fun Run and Walk at 8:30 a.m., followed by a non-denominational church service at 9:30 a.m.

The festival continues with live entertainment, children’s activities, a Twinless Twins gathering and “Twingo” bingo.

Extreme Hiking at Royal view

Royal view Reserved Shelter, Mill Stream Run Reservation 8:00 a.m. to noon

Cleveland Metroparks is offering a four-hour hike through the hills, valleys and forests surrounding Royal view Picnic Area.

This is the serious-hiking option for people who believe Sunday mornings should contain elevation, sweat and at least one moment of questioning their footwear.

Gettin’ Buggy

Porter Creek Sledding Hill, Huntington Reservation 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Families can join a naturalist for a catch, identify and release insect safari through a field habitat. Nets and containers are provided.

This is exactly the sort of activity kids love and parents pretend they suggested first.

Cedar Fairmount Summer Festival

Cedar Fairmount District, Cleveland Heights Noon to 4:00 p.m.

The neighborhood’s 21st annual summer festival brings family activities, local businesses and community entertainment into the Cedar Fairmount district.

Pair it with a visit to nearby Shaker Lakes for an easy urban-and-outdoors Sunday.

Richfield Community Day and Fireworks

Richfield Woods Park Activities begin at 1:00 p.m.

Sunday’s Richfield celebration includes children’s activities, food trucks and entertainment presented by the Bath-Richfield Kiwanis, followed by fireworks at dusk.

Keyser Barn Summer Concert

Keyser Barn, Cuyahoga Falls5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Free

The Skoolies open the evening, followed by the Gray Beard Band. Food trucks are scheduled, and families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

This is the gentler Sunday-evening choice.

Music on the lawn.

Ice cream.

Nobody intentionally crashing a car.

Concert for Legends Featuring Lainey Wilson

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton 7:30 p.m.

Lainey Wilson headlines Canton’s Concert for Legends, with Braxton Keith opening the show. Tickets are required.

Our Adventure Pick of the Weekend

Build your own three-part fair adventure:

Start in the livestock barns and ask a young exhibitor about the animal they raised.

Visit us at Wilderness Adventures between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Friday or Saturday.

Then stay after dark for the derby, tractor pull or midway lights.

The rides may be what children ask for.

The conversations are usually what they remember.

Dad Joke of the Week

I asked the farmer why he entered his tractor in the fair.

He said it had outstanding performance in its field.

I left before he could explain the financing.
